Mac?

Ewwwwww.

Cavan... wake up and smell the logic

My logic is why I should I pay twice the price when the Mac gives me nothing more besides a pretty casing and some hipster cred. :-p

But then again, I'm a dyed in the wool PC guy; I like to tweak and do it by myself. My goal is build my own computer and run Ubuntu Linux on it. Then both Microsoft and Apple can suck it!

I gave PCs multiple chances, and they kept failing me, wnich none my or my friends Macs have ever done. In the end, the Mac costs MUCH less when you look at it over say, ten years.
Then again, we all know about your math skills (ducks).

As for building your own computer, that would be awsome, but I personally wouldn't attempt building something as small as a laptop

oh and thanks pseudo!

Hey now, my math skills rock, I just didn't happen to like the material (read: I put in little effort). :-p

As for the laptop failures, I'll let Consumer Reports do the talking for me: link

Though I will admit Apple's tech support is superior, so at least that comes with the ginormous price. ;-)

I'm on my third Mac laptop. The Wallstreet still functions but it soooooo slow. The iBook died last year but it had a very hard life including falling down concrete steps. I've always purchased the insurance but only used it once - the iBook's back lock gave out. I had one lousy Mac - the Performa. Almost every part of it was replaced under warranty. It still works. I doubt the eldest still works but it ran a monthly newsletter for many years. My last Mac is a friend's now and I have an iMac and a Macbook. Other than the Performa road apple, I've never used the warranty. Someone asked what I would do if someone gave me a PC. I'd find some poor ordinary uninformed soul to sell it to. I'd never give it to a friend. 8>)

Woo hoo!

I'm jealous ;) My "David saves for a Macbook" acct isn't built up enough yet to buy anything.

BTW, just got a copy of David Pogue's Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Leopard Edition and it's a typically well-written Pogue book. Recommended.
